November Staff Spotlight - Laura Hedges

As a recent graduate from the University of Sydney, Laura has been working with the team at Green Valley Dental for the past year. Registered as dental professional ‘Oral Health Therapist’, she will happily provide all preventative services, including routine scale & clean procedures, as well as fissure sealants, fluoride treatments and x-rays, and will be able to tailor an oral hygiene regimen to suit your individual needs.

Laura shows particular interest in Paediatric Dentistry, servicing the general dental treatment needs of children including dental fillings, extractions, nerve treatment and placement of stainless steel crowns. She has a genuine concern for kids, and finds great joy in developing trust and friendly relationships with the children, utilising her time and patience to ensure a happy and positive experience. Her passion lies within prevention, working with the family unit to improve on the lifestyle factors related to childhood decay. Laura has that friendly face and all the kids love coming back!

Another role Laura plays, is the diagnosis, treatment and maintenance of gum disease. Utilising her skills as a dental hygienist, she will ensure a comfortable experience from the start to finish of appointment.

With the increasing amount of supporting evidence linking Medical Conditions such as Type II Diabetes and Heart Disease with Oral Health, Laura takes the time to explain the disease process behind Tooth Decay and Gum Disease. Laura does this in order to treat the presenting condition, as well as to preserve the health of the teeth and gums for a lifetime of good dental health.

As she buys into the “prevention is better than cure” mindframe, Laura recommends 6 monthly check ups, cleaning, and fluoride treatment for all ages!

Laura's favourite meal is her most popular brunch order, an acai bowl (full of anti-oxidants!). She is also a bit of a yoga enthusiast - an expert at the eagle pose!
